Climb your way up

We haven’t exactly been the most consistent with our fitness routine recently (and it sounds like a big euphemism). My knee pain played a significant role in that, but we were also plain lazy more often than not. However, my knees have shown significant improvement lately (not really sure why). And so, we have re-energized our gym sessions and even spiced things up with some fun activities along the way.One nice addition to our fitness journey has been indoor bouldering. While Marcin effortlessly tackles many routes, I’m still getting the hang of it, often just managing to keep up. Despite the disparity in skill levels, we’ve both found it to be an entertaining experience.

Ostatnio nie byliśmy zbyt konsekwentni w naszej rutynie fitness (jaki miły eufemizm). Trochę wpłynął na to ból moich kolan, ale byliśmy też zwyczajnie leniwi jak dwa leniwce.  Moje kolana ostatnio wykazały jednak z przyczyn nikomu nieznanych znaczną poprawę. Zatem wznowiliśmy nasze sesje na siłowni, a nawet urozmaiciliśmy je kilkoma innymi aktywnościami. Jedny z nowych dodatków do naszej podróży fitnessowej jest indor bouldering. Podczas gdy Marcin bez wysiłku pokonuje wiele tras, ja wciąż się z oswajam z tym sportem, często ledwo pokonując proste scieżki. Pomimo różnicy poziomów umiejętności, oboje mamy sporo zabawy.

Amalfi Afternoon Tea

This summer has brought a delightful touch of Italy to Eastleigh, thanks to the Garden Society’s exquisite Amalfi Afternoon Tea combining a modern twist with beloved Italian classics.

Garden Society zabrało nas w ten weekend w kulinarna podróż do Włoch dzięki ich Amalfi Afternoon Tea, serwując ukochane włoskie klasyki z małą nutką…. nie, nie tyle dekadencji, co nowoczesnego podejścia do kuchni.

The savoury selection was great. Our standout favourite was undoubtedly the Peach & Prosciutto Skewers. This charming  little dish perfectly balanced the sweetness of ripe peaches with the savoury richness of prosciutto. Also worth mentioning was the delightful Mini Burrata.

Z części nie słodkiej, naszym ulubionym daniem były szaszłyki z brzoskwinią i prosciutto.To urocze małe danie idealnie równoważyło słodycz dojrzałych brzoskwiń z wytrawnym bogactwem prosciutto. Mini Burrata także była przepyszna.

Moving on to the sweet selections, the Tiramisu Éclair was a particular highlight; it captured the essence of the classic Italian dessert while adding a unique twist that made it incredibly indulgent. And of course, we couldn’t forget the quintessential British element of afternoon tea: scones with clotted cream. Fluffy and warm, they were the perfect finishing touch to an already lavish spread.

Yes, the calories may have piled up, but every delightful bite was entirely worth it.

Przechodząc do deserów, szczególnym hitem były eklery tiramisu oraz oczywiście kwintesencja brytyjskiej popołudniowej herbaty - skony z clotted cream (clotted cream to bardzo, bardzo gęsty krem ze śmietany).

Tak, kalorie mogły się co nieco skumulować, ale każdy pyszny kęs był tego wart.

The lemon sorbet arrived a bit too frozen, but we managed and it was still very refreshing.

Cytrynowy sorbet był trochę za mocno zamrożony, ale daliśmy mu radę i nie wpłynęło to na jego smak.

Yuri cottage

Yuri Cottage is a tiny eatery that embraces a minimalistic interior design, creating an inviting yet understated atmosphere. Despite its simplicity, the food is nothing short of delightful. We savoured a diverse mixed platter that included sushi, gyoza, pumpkin croquettes, chicken skewers, seaweed salad, grilled eel, and some more dishes. Our experience was very enjoyable and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Yuri Cottage to mała jadłodajnia z minimalistycznym wystrojem wnętrza i zachęcającą, ale stonowaną atmosferą. Pomimo swojej prostoty, jedzenie jest pyszne. Zamówiliśmy dzisiaj zestaw tapas, który zawierał sushi, gyozę, krokiety z dyni, szaszłyki z kurczaka, sałatkę z wodorostów, grillowanego węgorza i kilka innych dań. Obiad był tak przyjemny, ze na pewno tu jeszcze wrócimy.

Spirited Away

Another studio Ghibli’s anime, Oscar-winning Spirited Away, created by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, has been reimagined for the stage. Directed by John Caird (known for Les Miserables), this breath-taking production is performed in Japanese (but with subtitles,) and accompanied by a live orchestra. Each night, the Coliseum fills to the brim, leaving audiences in awe.

Kolejna anmiacja studia Ghibli, nagrodzone Oscarem Spirited Away autorstwa legendarnego Hayao Miyazaki, zostało przystosowane do potrzeb teatralnej sceny. Reżyserem tej fantastycznej produkcji jest John Caird (znany z Les Miserables), a akompaniuje je orkiestra na żywo. Każdej nocy Londyński teatr Coliseum wypełnia się po brzegi, zabierając publiczność w prawdziwie magiczną podróż.

The visuals are stunning, and the performance is exceptional. If you haven't seen the film yet (I highly recommend watching it ASAP!), Spirited Away tells the story of Chihiro, a young girl who accidentally enters a world of spirits. Her parents are transformed into pigs, and Chihiro must navigate this enchanting but perilous realm, ruled by the sorceress Yubaba, to save her parents and find a way back to the human world. I’ll leave the plot here, to not spoil your fun.

Efekty wizualne są oszałamiające, a gra aktorska też znakomita. Jeśli jeszcze nie widzieliście filmu (gorąco polecam obejrzeć go jak najszybciej!), Spirited Away opowiada historię Chihiro, dziewczynki, która przypadkowo trafia do świata duchów. Jej rodzice zostają zamienieni w świnie, a Chihiro ich uratować i znaleźć drogę powrotną do świata ludzi. Więcej fabuły nie zdradzę, aby nie zepsuć wam zabawy.

In March, we attended another Studio Ghibli production—My Neighbor Totoro (check out my March blog entry for that!). It's hard not to compare the two, and while both are incredible, I have to give a slight edge to Totoro. There’s just something magical about Jim Henson's puppets and the unique storytelling in Totoro. That said, Spirited Away was still absolutely fantastic! My favorite characters were No Face and Haku, and my favourite scene was the one inside the train – so powerfully imagined.

W marcu obejrzeliśmy inną produkcję Studio Ghibli — My Neighbor Totoro (sprawdźcie wpis na blogu z marca!). Trudno nie porównywać tych dwóch przedstawien ze sobą i chociaż obydwa są niesamowite, niewielką przewagę ma wg mnie Totoro. Jest coś absolutnie magicznego w marionetkach Jima Hensona i wyjątkowej narracji Totoro. Mimo to, Spirited Away było absolutnie fantastyczne! Moimi ulubionymi postaciami byli No Face i Haku, a moją ulubioną sceną była ta w pociągu — niby prosta ale najbardziej kopiąca po nerkach.

As is typical, recording was not allowed during the performance, so this entry includes a few mobile snaps from before and after the show, as well as glimpses from the program. Plus, I cannot resist sharing a photo of the sushi we enjoyed during our pre-show lunch in the theatre.

Belgravia in Bloom

Belgravia in Bloom is a flower festival held in Belgravia, London, typically in May. The festival celebrates the beauty of flowers and the art of floristry, showcasing an array of vibrant blooms and creative arrangements. The theme this year is “Into the Wild”. We start from visiting “Eccleston Explorers” with its elephants, bees, giraffes, and monkeys safari-like installations.

Od uroczej Pimlico Road po kultowy Knightsbridge, od eleganckiego Cadogan Square po tętniącą życiem Victorię, ponad 46 uczestniczących w programie sklepów i restauracji zachwyca przechodniów wspaniałymi instalacjami kwiatowymi. Obejmują one zarówno delikatne, misterne kompozycje, jak i wielkie, szalone instalacje.

Kinnerton Street spoils us with Orchids and Butterflies by Judith Blacklock Flower School. The tunnel of orchids transfers us to beautiful rainforests.

Finally, we get to Motocomb street, where magnificent installations of peacocks and foxes rain. From here we will head towards Chelsea.
